Eight small, intimate practice rooms nestle within the pine trees. Four ensemble practice rooms, a 120-seat Master Recital Hall, along with support offices and a small music library for students and faculty are also included. The oblique forms of the Music Center buildings are shaped in response to music acoustics and the steep shed roofs are expressive of the jagged mountain peaks of Icicle Canyon.
In every building, one large window connects the user to the distant mountains, trees and the immediate rocks and plants close at hand, blurring the line between interior and exterior. Icicle Creek Music Center has exceptional sound quality and feel for groups ranging in size from a local symphony to a single performer.
